The founder of Cool Ass wasn’t at all surprised when he found out his songs make people’s jaws drop to the floor. “I was really pissed off when I wrote that,” he says. “I wanted a hard hitting rock sound that would be as in your face as the lyrics. The reward is watching people’s reactions, how they go from being completely shocked and offended to laughing hysterically. The lyrics are pretty funny.”

“Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always had music pop into my head out of nowhere,” explains Marc. “My big struggle was learning how to take what I hear and get it out of me, and put onto instruments so it sounds right. A few years ago a song popped into my head that was so catchy, it got stuck there for months until I just couldn’t ignore it any longer… and since I could already play some instruments, I set about recording it and learned how to do all the audio production myself. I was so pleased with the final result that I decided to share it with the world, and so Cool Ass was born.”
Cool Ass released “S.O.B.” in 2019, and “Fuck You COVID-19” in 2020. “Oh my God, I was all set to record material I had written a while ago, and then this COVID-19 shit hit us,” Marc explains. “So as I’m stuck at home, wallowing in my own misery, of course a song pops into my head. It was such a catchy tune and was so relevant to how so many people were feeling at that time, that I had to put all my other plans on pause and record this song instead.”
“Ever since then, I’ve really just been waiting for this pandemic to end… I always have visions of music videos to go with my songs, but with all the restrictions in place right now it’s practically impossible to produce any videos. Not the way I want to, anyway. But I mean, I’m tired of waiting… videos or not, it’s time to do some recording and put out some new music!”
